The Writer’s Journal: The Beginning…ish

Hello Darling,

It’s taken me a few weeks to get the time & energy to update here.

Since my crash, I’ve gotten a new car! Which has allowed me to go full steam ahead into all things work. Running a three day event & multiple meetings, my own personal time got lost in the frenzy.

Today, I began thinking again about why I started writing in the first place. I started as a child, but it ultimately stemmed from my love of books. As a child, my parents would regularly take me to the library and used book sales. We would borrow and buy books by the stack full. I would read multiple books in a week-and I kept that habit up until I graduated high school. The smell of the pages, the feeling of the binding in my hands-it was perfection.

I miss that habit— I’m lucky to finish a book within a year right now. Hopefully I find the ambition to turn that around this year.

Since our home library isn’t setup yet, I spent hours digging through my boxes of books. Then I stumbled upon one of my absolute favorites from my childhood.

My Father’s Dragon trilogy was a collection of stories that touched my heart as a child. The illustrations & the story line were mesmerizing and inspiring,

Although I do not have much to share lately of my writing & life, I’ll share this glimpse of something that touched my heart as a child. If you’ve never read #myfathersdragon📚🐉 by Ruth Gannett, you need to.

P.S. - I did not name our puppy Boris after the baby dragon, instead he got his name from the famous actor, Boris Karloff.

Until next time (and hopefully with a new book to recommend),

M.E.
