The Writer's Journal: A Short Update
/Hello Darling,
There has been a lot going on in the last few weeks. COVID-19 has made a severe impact on the world and touched so many of our lives in so many different ways.
With the encouragements, and in some cases enforcement, of social-distancing/self-quarantine measures, there is the rise of people watching streaming services and TV, but also diving into those books they’ve been eagerly waiting to read.
Since March 17, I haven’t had the chance to do that. I’ve spent over 127 hours working without pay, to keep our family’s business going during this very surreal time.
But my focus is on something else with this update.
While we all process and find ways to work through this crisis with our families, we should also not lose sight of those small things that are bringing us joy during this time -that stack of books we keep telling ourselves we’ll get to, the full DVR, the newest streaming series.
As much as we all love a good TV series to binge watch, don’t put off those books! Take time to read a new book, or an old favorite. One that comes to mind for me as a re-read on my list is Paper Towns by John Green. Before I start a re-read, I should finish the new (old) book I started earlier this month, Emma by Jane Austen. One this is for sure, the end of the month has not panned out as I have envisioned it would four weeks ago.
It’s a very surreal time that we’re all living in right now. Keep sharing just as much of the positive news, the positive thoughts and the things that bring you joy as we continue to hear the worrisome, devastating and heartbreaking news.
Until Next Time,
M.E.
